Making Scents Out of Life

Our Story

Making Scents Out of Life

Ouch! In the fall of 2020, my beautiful MT Autumn just turned into a fall (the other kind of fall). A slight mishap found me in the emergency room with a broken right foot. Hobbling around in a big, obtrusive boot and homebound, I decided to try my hand at making a few candles. Arming myself with a lot of internet videos and a starter candle making kit, I jumped in. Before long, I began trialing different waxes and a multitude of scents. If I couldn't get out and enjoy the Montana outdoors, then it's majesty was going to have to come to me...in the form of candles and aromatic candle fragrances.

A lot of trial and error went into those early candles, but friends and family liked the results. My husband and I transformed the basement into a candle studio, and my evenings and weekends were spent producing a candle with a non toxic, slow burning wax, coupled with an array of unique, Montana inspired scents. With a lot more experimentation, a re-usable concrete vessel was born. With a striking glow and a splash of copper, it too, brought the great Montana outdoors into our home.

We are blessed to have a gently sloping backyard filled with pine and sage with a magnificent Bitterroot Mountain backdrop. Deer and elk meander at will. It is this inspiring view that led to the formation of Pine and Sage Candles. In some small way, we hope our candles may bring just a little bit of the beauty of the great Montana outdoors into your home.

We hope you enjoy our candles.

Some of our customer reviews...

River Run Concrete Bowl

Love your products

I am passionate about scents. Particularly in my home. A good scent enhances the right mood. Bar none, River Run is my favorite. Believe me I’ve tried dozens of scented candles. Pine and Sage is the best. The fact that it is made here in Montana, makes it the best of the best.

This candle smells SO good and the handmade bowl is very attractive on our table! Found it at the farmers market in Hamilton MT and are so lucky we did. We met the owners of the store and they were great people! Definitely would recommend!

BEST EVER!

We cannot have scents in the house due to allergies. These candles have such a nice balance of natural scents that truly are subtle and soothing. Every scent I have tried I think is my new favorite. Also, the little tins are perfect for travel.

Absolutely wonderful

Came upon these candles while on
vacation on Montana. Absolutely love the scents! Since vacation I've
ordered them from Nevada and plan to continue. Very pleased, highly
recommend for lovely candles and wonderful scents to make your home
even more beautiful. I even take the 2oz ones on vacation wherever we
go!

Love these candles & melts

I got a candle, in a reusable clay pot, and melts of the River Run
scent! I have sooo many allergies to fragrances but have had zero
reaction to these! I absolutely love them and will definitely order
more!

Christmas Candles

Leslie is super nice and easy to work with. Products are well thought out. Personally got the Christmas Cabin and Cranberry Spice. Both are simply awesome! Gently aromatic without any of the overpowering scents of the mall store variety....highly recommend her products!

Lochsa Love Concrete Bowl

I love the reveal of copper colored interior mixture on the bowl surface, Clearly hand made art with no two alike.

Our Candles

All of our candles are hand poured in small batches in our studio in Stevensville, Montana. We use plant based, all natural coconut wax.

Why coconut wax instead of soy wax?

Coconuts do not require fertilizer or pesticides to grow, unlike soy wax. Coconuts are harvested by hand, non-GMO, eco-friendly and a sustainable crop. Coconut wax is known for its ability to burn slowly and cleanly. As a consumer, you get more bang for your buck because your candle will last longer. The 6 oz tins will burn for approxiamtely 40 hours. Coconut wax is also known for an optimal hot throw. Hot throw is very important. This is the strength of the smell of the candle when lit in a room.

We use pthalate free fragrance oils blended with quality ingredients, including essential oils.

Our vessels can be repurposed. The handmade concrete bowls are easy to clean and offer a new life after enjoying your candle. The candle tins can be recycled if you choose not to reuse.
